What we sell
A complete digital storybook costs $15 as a one-time purchase. It includes every page illustrated, an interactive book saved to the customer's account, a downloadable PDF, and the ability to keep editing the finished book. There is no subscription.
A printed copy is optional. A digital book plus an 8.5 by 8.5 inch softcover costs $35 in total, and a digital book plus an 8.5 by 8.5 inch hardcover costs $45 in total. These totals include the complete digital book and the first printed copy. Shipping and any applicable tax are added at checkout and shown before payment. The customer approves a proof before anything prints. See https://storybookstudio.io/pricing.
Books are printed to order. Production takes about 4–6 business days; mid-Nov through Dec allow 7–10+. Delivery then typically takes 6 to 9 business days for Standard, 2 to 4 for Expedited, and 1 to 2 for Express, counted after production. Shipping is passed through at the printer's live quoted cost without markup. Printed books currently ship to the United States, Canada, and Australia.
Storybook Studio also offers guided occasion books. Each has its own page and a guided flow at /create/<occasion>. Current occasion books cover potty training (https://storybookstudio.io/potty-training), birthdays (https://storybookstudio.io/birthday), grandparents (https://storybookstudio.io/grandparents), holidays (https://storybookstudio.io/holiday), anniversaries (https://storybookstudio.io/anniversary), bedtime routines (https://storybookstudio.io/bedtime-routine), toothbrushing (https://storybookstudio.io/toothbrushing), saying goodbye at daycare (https://storybookstudio.io/daycare-goodbye), and a non-medical hospital-stay story (https://storybookstudio.io/hospital-hero). At checkout, occasion books come in three tiers: Digital for $15, which needs no shipping; Softcover + PDF for $35; and Hardcover + PDF for $45.
What is free and what requires payment
Starting a book is free, and no card is required. In the main photo-to-storybook flow, a customer can write the complete story, create and approve the characters, and see the cover and the first illustrated pages before paying. Illustrating the rest of the book requires the one-time digital purchase. See https://storybookstudio.io/pricing.
Occasion books work differently. In the potty-training book, the customer personalizes the story and sees the child's illustrated cover before paying, and the rest is illustrated after checkout. No account or card is needed to start. In the other occasion books, the customer makes every story choice before paying, and the book is created after checkout. Printing always waits for the customer to approve the proof.
Photos and privacy
We do not sell photos or use them to train our own AI models, and a landing-page photo expires after 24 hours if you do not save it.
Photos are private by default and are used only to create and deliver the books and features the customer asks for. They are not used for advertising. To make a book, photos and story details are processed by the service providers named in the privacy policy, which include AI image and text providers. Those providers may retain limited request data under their own policies. For occasion books that show a cover preview, the photo is processed by those providers before payment. Unpaid occasion-book drafts and their uploads expire after 24 hours.
Books and characters stay in the customer's account until they are deleted. When eligible content is deleted, removal of the associated active files begins. Limited backups, security records, purchase records, and provider logs may remain for their defined retention periods or where law requires, and books tied to paid print orders may need to be kept as transaction records. Customers can request access, correction, or deletion at support@storybookstudio.io. Accounts are for adults 18 and older, and an adult who uploads a child's photo must have the legal right and appropriate permission to do so. Stripe handles payments, and Storybook Studio does not store full card numbers. See https://storybookstudio.io/privacy and https://storybookstudio.io/terms.
Refunds and reprints
The following is quoted from https://storybookstudio.io/refunds.
For occasion books: "Approve it or get your money back. If you request a refund before approving the final proof, we’ll refund everything except the $5 creation fee once paid generation has begun. If generation never begins, the full amount is refunded. After proof approval, documented print or shipping issues are handled under our Refunds & Reprints Policy."
For digital purchases: "If a digital purchase was duplicated or the complete book cannot be delivered, contact us so we can investigate and make it right."
For printed books: "Printed books are produced from the exact proof you approve. If your book arrives damaged, defective, or materially different from the approved proof, contact support@storybookstudio.io with your order details and photos of the issue. Reprint eligibility depends on the documented production or shipping issue."
Characters and pets
A book from the main flow can include up to six characters. Pets can be characters, and currently only dogs and cats are supported. Each occasion book sets its own character range, up to three or four characters depending on the book, and the main character is always a person.
