Real families

The magic is seeing them inside the story.

Customer stories across Storybook Studio

We just welcomed our first child, and in a few quick steps I was able to create a story starring our whole family. It couldn’t have been more intuitive. And after seeing how it turned out, I mean it when I say it: trust the process.

Tyler S. · Created Trust the Process

Making a book about me and my brothers was ridiculously easy—and seeing the three of us as the stars of our own story was even better. We couldn’t stop laughing at how good it came out.

Eric H. · Created Three brothers great adventure

My son-in-law made this for me about my two grandkids having a sleepover at Nana and Papa’s. I actually cried a little when I saw it.

Good to know

Can the book feature just one grandparent?+

Yes. Add the child and one or two grandparents. Only the people you choose become recurring characters; a second grandparent is not invented. Use your family’s own names, such as Nana, Papa or Grandma Jo.

Is this the same story with different names?+

No. Choose the star train, ocean expedition, dinosaur valley, floating islands or lantern forest. That choice changes the story’s activity, difficulty and resolution. Your photos, familiar details and chosen names make the people and setting personal. Ava’s star-train book is one complete example, not everyone’s script.

Can I turn a real memory into the book?+

Yes. Choose ‘Inspired by a real memory’ and describe what happened. We use those events as the foundation for a story adaptation, which you review before printing. Or choose an imagined day together. We do not treat an imagined adventure as something that really happened.

What photos do I need?+

Add one clear photo of the child and one of each grandparent in the story, with one person per photo. A photo of a familiar place is optional. Use only photos you have permission to upload; family details and photos are not published as public examples.

Can I choose the style shown here?+

Yes. Ava and the Starbound Express uses Claymation, one of the nine illustration styles offered in the creation flow. The chosen style carries through your cover and story illustrations. Other styles are shown as swatches, not as alternate finished versions of Ava’s book.

What comes with the book?+

Choose a printed softcover or hardcover with a downloadable PDF included. The complete sample shows an 8.5-inch square hardcover layout with 24 interior pages. Your own book is created after checkout, and printing starts only after you approve the final proof. Shipping and tax are shown before payment.

Will it arrive by a special date?+

Allow time for creation, your proof review, printing and shipping. Check the delivery estimates at checkout. We cannot promise arrival by a birthday or holiday, and printing does not begin until you approve the proof.

Are the sample family and product photographs real customers?+

No. Ava and her grandparents are fictional. Lifestyle and product scenes are AI-generated illustrative mockups, not customer photographs or photographs of a delivered Lulu proof. The complete reader and the Inside image use this sample’s actual print-layout pages. Manufactured color, gloss, crop and binding can vary.
