A Storybook to Read Together on a Video Call

Ten minutes that survive both clocks

You see them on a weekday screen: your breakfast, their supper, a lamp both kitchens already know. A toy that has to clear an airport is a one-time thrill. A story you return to next Tuesday is a ritual. Plan a short slot, mail one drawing back, and keep the same story for the following call.

Distance makes the clocks the hard part. If they eat dinner while you eat breakfast, pick ten minutes that exist in both zones. The story can mention the suitcase by their door, the postcard on the fridge, or the park bench from your last visit, when you type those facts. Nothing is filled in from a fixed script.

The grandparent story is for a grandchild who is 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 and one or two grandparents. Every person needs a separate sharp portrait. Pets stay out of this cast. If the grandchild is still 1 or 2, wait. This story is not a baby album.

Ask the parents before any portrait is uploaded. If they say no, leave that picture out of every tool. You can still mail a drawing and keep the Tuesday call. A name-only album from somewhere else is the respectful fallback.

What gets personalized

Type the grandchild's first name, a number from 3 through 7, and the word they use for you: Grandma, Grandpa, Nana, or Papa. One sharp portrait per person. A group snapshot cannot be divided, so send a separate picture for every face.

The dedication is a line only your family would say. The detail note can hold a real route: the mailbox at the end of their street, the blue blanket on the couch, the kitchen clock you both watch. You check the faces ahead of paper. The file comes with the purchase.
