Sibling gifts

A storybook to help your toddler welcome a new baby

A story can let a toddler rehearse being the older child, with their name and photo, before or after a baby arrives. These pages do that in a nursery: a boy tiptoes in a blanket cape, finds a first smile, and tucks a blanket. It does not depict a hospital or a first meeting in a hallway.

Story excerpt

He wiggled his nose and puffed up his cheeks, And found her first smile in sun-colored squeaks. He carried clean diapers with careful big pride, A basket of help held close at his side.

These pages come from a made-up family. The book you make uses your names, photos, and the details you share, and its story is written fresh.

Who it's for

Start when you want a calm picture book, not a medical tour. The useful beats here are the cape, the smile on the rug, the diaper basket, the whisper, the blanket fort, and the night watch. Those are the pages this guide shows, overlapping the other sibling guides on purpose so each intent can point at a different trio.

Start the sibling story, for an older child about 2 to 7. It asks whether the baby is on the way or already home, and it will not copy this nursery into their book.

Second-time older siblings get the same book: pick 'big sibling again' when you start. There is no extra book for the middle child unless you order one.

Rehearse the ordinary parts out loud: whose lap the baby sits on, which toy stays the older child's, and that a grown-up still reads with them. The cape, the smile on the rug, and the whisper are the beats. A maternity-ward tour is not among them.

What gets personalized

What the story covers is whatever you put in the memory box plus the people you add. The pages shown here cover a nursery evening only. If you describe a hospital, you are asking the new story to include your detail. You are not unlocking a hidden scene in these pages.

Photos of the older child matter more than photos of a baby who is not here yet. You can still name the baby. A blurry ultrasound is a poor likeness reference, and the product does not promise to draw from one.

Format, price, and timing

Start the read-aloud when you can sit still with the older child. The screen copy is not tied to a due date. Paper follows Pricing. This preparing guide does not list a Christmas-style cutoff.

Questions

When should we start reading it?

When you can sit with the older child. The digital book exists before any print does. You can look through these pages today.

What does the story cover?

The pages shown here cover a nursery night: a star, a cape, a smile, diapers, a whisper, a blanket fort, and sleep. It does not cover a hospital or a birth.

Is there a version for a child who is already a sibling?

No separate book is needed. In the sibling story, pick 'big sibling again'. The nursery pages here are what you can read today.
